The legend of the green children of Woolpit. In the 12th century, two children were found in Suffolk, England with green skin. A boy and girl, neither could inform their rescuers about the place they came from or even tell their names because they did not speak any known language. It was discovered that the children rejected all foods except for beans. The boy died shortly after but the girl grew up to lose her green color, and learned to speak English. She explained that they came from a land with no sunlight, called St. Martin’s Land. They didn’t know how they got to this “New Land”.
